Tanisi. Hello again. Welcome the Mountain News. www.inewhistory.com/mtnblog.html Ranked the # 1 Aboriginal Website

Back copies of Mountain News

Politics is Politics and Politicians are Politicians, no matter what party. Their ultimate aim is to get to wallow in the trough and line their pockets. And that goes for Native politicians too (after all, they learned their trade from Federal and Provincial politicians). Their mantra? "TAX, TAX, TAX and TAX some more, there's plenty where that came from."

The NEW DEMOCRATIC PARTY (NDP) has always marketed itself as the party of the underdog, the worker and the downtrodden. As we can see in Alberta, this is pure B.S. All this bunch are doing is raising the cost of living by about 10% for the average and low-earning Albertans. It is the party of Nut-Case ideology. Slash and burn economics. Carbon Windfall Tax.

Who? Daydreaming.

Who? If they had Rona Ambrose as future leader they might actually have a chance at a comeback. The rest are a bunch of nothing.

Well, so far the LIBS have done nothing but spend money overseas, where Pretty- boy Trudeau spends most of his time on photo-ops. He's a celebrity, don't you know? Talk, talk, talk, no noticeable action on needed issues at home. That would cost money that could be given away overseas. In fact. The Liberals have been saying one thing but doing the opposite. The NEB hearings are a failure, and the inquiry into the NEB hearings are a farce. McCallum escaped from his cage and wants to bring another 250,000 Syrians into Canada. Site 3 Dam is a go (the power to be sold to the U.S.). Failure to apply the Supreme Court rulings on Duty to Consult. New SuperTax on everything on this Carbon Windfall Tax business. The Liberals have a history of being two-faced, saying one thing for the News coverage, and then doing the opposite. They are not to be trusted. (At least the NDP plainly state that "We are Going to Screw You and You Will Like It!!!".)

Provincial LIBERALS

Fading into the background. Their strongest asset is that they were not PC's. No way Unite the Right. Remember what I said in an earlier article about Colonialism and Conflict Theory. The Government has now taken that step of escalating the Conflict Model which will require First Nations to move on from moderation to activism if they want to remain in the game. 100% true to the Colonialism model of dealing with the indiginous.

Another Flash-In-The-Pan?

If you have any business ideas or interests, let me know. We can talk it over and look into it. See also Publication pictures

Kinder-Morgan Trans Mountain Pipeline are back to talking and playing nice. Odin Fromhold, Dustin Mountain and myself attended a KM workshop on Emergency Response plans for pipeline issues. They bought coffee and lunch (but we had to stay overnight at our own expense). Would have liked a few of our other people (Jim, Gordon) there but were not able to cover the costs. AFNAH now has a membership 10 First Nations andf 43 qualified professionals which, by law, should be hired or contracted by the pipeline firms. These Nations have now undertaken to act in a co-ordinated manner as a single group. AFNAH is developing a Certification Program for Mitigation Fieldworkers F.T. 1 Field Technicians F.T. 2 Heritage Protection Officers Odin von Fromhold , Dustin Mountain and Jade Mountain have been submitted as probationary Field Technician members.

The Site Visit Field Report went in to ATCO. There was a meeting of the Jasper Aboriginal Forum/Nations of Jasper at which the question of what to do 1. With the PAKAKOS site (see last month's News). It was decided to keep the site secret, the only ones to know the exact location are to be the Keepers. The 40 Nations of Jasper have designated us as Keepers and Protectors of the PAKAKOS site. 2. With Kinder Morgan's/Trans Mountain Pipeline's failure of a Heritage Resources study - where they missed all the important sites (like the PAKAKOS Site). Legal action has been suggested. This is being considered by the Nations working through the Association of First Nations Archaeologists and Historians. Still ticked off over the feast mismanagement last year by ATCO and Parks. Have not heard anything about what they plan to do now.

INDIAN STATUS (reprint from last month)

Several years ago the Government of Canada recognized the ASINI WACHI NIHIYAWAK (Mountain Cree) BOBTAIL TRADITIONAL BAND as a legitimate and legal Non-Treaty Band. The AWNTB operates under Traditional Law, and membership is according to Traditional Law. As such, AWNTB has broad membership rules and can accept members that have been excluded by other bands. In theory, it would now even be possible for transfers between existing Treaty bands and the AWNTB.
AWNTB is currently attempting to track the descendants of the Bobtail Band who did not enter Treaty or who withdrew from Treaty, as these would be elegibel for membership. About 30 interested persons are contacting me each month.

Nothing new. For more information go to Rossdale

A few years ago a small central Alberta town wanted to enter into a partnership with a Native group to develop a local Native Heritage Site. They were told by the Government of Alberta that if they became involved with a Native group the Government would take away all their Alberta Culture grants for the Museum, Agricultural Society, Heritage Society, senior's residence, and so on. Do you suppose that the government attitude also explains why this government is not supportive of an aboriginal group developing the Temple Mounds as a Native Heritage Park?

Donny Twin, one of our Elders (71) and good friend has been recovering at the Uof A hospital in Edmonton. Donny will be needing some surgery. Recovery will probably take time. Good Medicine to you, we are all praying for you. Christopher Mountain is also due for some surgery. Best Wishes, Chris.

As I said, 'we' found a PAKAKOS Effigy Pectoglyph site in Jasper. This was along the line of the Kinder Morgan Trans Mountain pipeline that I have been saying for years was not properly done. I expect next season I will have a few HRS jobs available for a few more family members. Another large PAKAKOS site exists on the Red Deer River. For a general explana- tion of PAKAKOS see our Cree Ethnography publication.

Our website, www.inewhistory.com, is independently ranked as being in the 90th percentile of Internet websites, meaning it is visited more than 90% of all other websites. This makes it the # 1 Aboriginal website in Internet. We have visitors from every country in the world. We have numerous firms who believe that it is advantageous for them to advertise on an aboriginal website, either to sell their product or to show the world that they support the aboriginal community. Who does not advertise on our website? Canadian political parties - who claim to have so much interest and concern for Aboriginals Pipeline and Energy firms - who are trying desperately to sell their projects and would like everyone to know how closely they relate to aboriginals Government of Alberta and Government of Canada ('nough said). Jasper National Park businesses, who really, really do not want us in Jasper Park (other than to bring money and get out).
